Your Garment Steamer Guide: Frequently Asked Questions and Solutions

· STEAMRS By Dreamers

De Hulpgids voor je Kledingstomer: Veelgestelde Vragen en Oplossingen - STEAMRS

Congratulations on purchasing your new STEAMR handheld garment steamer! We're delighted that you chose us, and we hope you enjoy your new appliance for years to come. If you have any questions when using it for the first time, we're happy to answer them below. That way, you can get started right away and get the most out of your garment steamer.

1. Water Droplets or Leaks from the Handheld Steamer

It's perfectly normal for a few small water droplets to land on your clothes from time to time while steaming. This happens more often than you might see in steaming videos. Almost every handheld steamer occasionally releases a drop of water. Don't worry, this is completely harmless to your textiles.

What if your garment steamer is actually leaking?
A significant leak is not normal, of course. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  • Check where the leak is coming from: Is it leaking from the metal plate at the top or from the water tank?
  • Check the reservoir: Press the black tab on the water tank firmly into place and make sure the tank is fitted correctly. There should be no gap between the reservoir and the steamer.

Is the problem still happening? Please contact our customer service team. We're happy to help!

2. Gurgling Sounds While Heating Up

Do you hear a gurgling sound while your STEAMR heats up? Don't worry! This is completely normal. Think of it like a powerful kettle rapidly heating water to above 100°C to generate steam. This process can make some noise, but there's no cause for concern.

3. No Steam from the Steamer?

If your handheld steamer isn't producing steam, here are a few things to check:

  • Check the water level: Is there enough water in the reservoir? The STEAMR's matte black design makes it difficult to see the water level, so use the included measuring cup to refill it.
  • Is the water tank securely attached?: Remove it and click it firmly back into place. A gap between the tank and the appliance could be causing the problem.
  • Check the power supply: Make sure the plug is securely inserted into the outlet and that it's receiving power.
  • Wait until the steamer reaches operating temperature: The STEAMR takes about 20-25 seconds to heat up. The light changes from orange to green when it's ready to use. Don't press the steam button too soon.

Descaling Your Handheld Steamer

If you use tap water instead of distilled water, limescale may build up in your STEAMR over time. Descaling your steamer is similar to descaling a kettle. For example, you can use vinegar to remove limescale.

To prevent limescale buildup, we recommend using distilled, filtered, or reverse osmosis water. This not only prevents limescale buildup but also helps your garment steamer last longer and work at its best.

Still No Steam?

Have you followed all the steps above and your appliance still isn't producing steam? Or is it not heating up? Please contact our customer service team. We're here to help with any issues.

Frequently Asked Questions About the STEAMR Handheld Steamer

  • Is it normal for water droplets to land on my clothes?
Yes, small water droplets may occasionally come from the steamer. This is completely normal and no cause for concern.

  • Why does my garment steamer make gurgling sounds?
The gurgling sounds are similar to those made by a kettle. This means the water is heating up quickly, which is a normal part of the steaming process.

  • How do I descale my steamer?
If you use tap water, limescale can build up. Descale your appliance using vinegar. Use distilled water from now on to prevent limescale buildup.

  • How long does it take for the handheld steamer to heat up?
The STEAMR is ready to use within 20-25 seconds. Once the light changes from orange to green, you can start steaming.

With proper care and maintenance, you'll enjoy your steamer for years to come and get perfectly steamed clothes and textiles time after time!
