Is a garment steamer better than an iron?
For most everyday clothing, yes. You don't need an ironing board and you steam your clothes while they hang. Because no hot soleplate presses on the fabric, you won't get shiny marks or scorch marks, not even on delicate fabrics. For a sharp crease in trousers, an iron is still handy.
Which fabrics can I use the handheld steamer on?
Almost all fabrics, including delicate ones like silk, satin, cashmere and wool. Only leather, suede and velvet are not suitable. Read more about steaming delicate fabrics.
How quickly is the handheld steamer ready?
Within 20 to 25 seconds. A full water tank gives about 10 minutes of steam, enough for 1 or 2 outfits.
Can I freshen up clothes without washing them?
Yes. 100°C steam freshens your clothes and helps reduce odours, so you can wear a garment more often before it needs washing. That's better for your clothes and saves washes.
Which water should I use in the steamer?
If you live in a soft-water area, regular tap water is fine. With hard, chalky water we recommend distilled, deionised or filtered water. Never put laundry perfume, scented ironing water, essential oils or cleaning products in the tank. Read more about which water to use.
Do I need to descale my handheld steamer?
Yes. Descale your steamer every six months, even if you rarely use it. If water has been left in the tank for a long time, limescale can still build up inside. So always empty the tank if you won't be using your steamer for a while. Limescale damage is not covered by the warranty. Read how to descale your steamer.
My steamer stopped steaming, what now?
The cause is often simple. Check that there is enough water in the tank, that the rubber seal is closed and that the tank is fully in place. Let the steamer heat up completely, then hold the steam button for a few seconds. Still not working? Follow our no-steam guide or contact us.
How do I use the handheld steamer?
Hang up your garment, pull the fabric slightly taut and move the steamer slowly from top to bottom. See our guide and steaming tips.
How long is the cord of the handheld steamer?
The cord is 2 metres long, so you can move freely while you steam.
What is the difference between the Luxury Handheld Steamer and the Professional?
The Luxury Handheld Steamer is compact and light: with 1500W and Dry-Steam© it is ready in 20 to 25 seconds and quickly steams one or two outfits crease-free. The Professional is a standing steamer with 2200W, 5 bar pressure and a 3-litre tank for up to 70 minutes of steam. Do you steam for long sessions, lots of clothing or curtains, or use it in a shop? Then choose the Professional.
What is the difference between the Luxury Handheld Steamer and the Travel?
The Luxury Handheld Steamer is more powerful: 1500W with Dry-Steam© versus 1300W for the Travel, and it has a copper boiler with anti-scale coating. It is made from high-quality materials and you can feel it: solid and luxurious in the hand, without a plastic look. The Travel is simpler, lighter and foldable, and mainly meant for travelling. Do you steam regularly at home? Then the Luxury Handheld Steamer is the best choice.
Which steamer do you recommend for arthritis or other hand complaints?
Do you have arthritis, a connective tissue disorder or other complaints in your hands? Then we recommend the Travel. At 520 grams it is our lightest steamer, so it is easy to hold, even during longer steaming. We have already made many customers with these complaints very happy with it.
What if I'm not happy or the steamer breaks?
You have 14 days to try your order at home. You also get a 2-year warranty. Is your steamer faulty? Email us at info@steamers.nl with your 4-digit order number and a short video in which we can see or hear the fault. It is the first thing we will ask for, so this way we can help you straight away. Please note: damage caused by limescale (if your steamer has not been descaled every six months) or by dry boiling (switching it on without water in the tank) is not covered by the warranty.
