How do I prevent textile wear and color fading?

How do I prevent textile wear and color fading?

You give your most beloved fabrics the long life they deserve by taking good care of them. Washing as little as possible prevents wear and tear and color fading. Enjoy your most beautiful garments, bedding, tablecloths, decorative pillows, etc. for an extra long time.

Clothing wear caused by ironing and washing

With an iron, fibers of a fabric are crushed and start to wear out faster. Using a steamer damages the fibers of a fabric many times less quickly.

Also, washing textiles (often) does not make them more beautiful. Research shows that lots of washing shortens the life of your textiles. This has everything to do with soap, heat, lying around in the drum and contact with other clothing. The fibers of fabrics are affected, and fabrics become thinner and pill, colors fade and clothes lose their shape. The
CEO of Levi's explains then, that jeans should actually never be washed, because it is bad for the fibers of the fabric, the color and for the fit. The CEO even hasnot washed his own jeans in the washing machine for 10 years.

Less washing and ironing is better for the life of your textiles

Your underwear should obviously be washed every day, but after that, you can quickly adhere to Stella McCartney's rule: "If you don't absolutely have to wash it, don't wash it." For most clothing, throwing it in the washing machine is very bad. The fabrics warp, the colors change, and the clothes wear out quickly. In addition, it is not at all necessary to always wash clothes/textiles. Of course, if a stain gets in, you can wash it out locally.

Use a handheld steamer

The specially designed pattern on the metal plate of the STEAM'R, combined with the hot steam ensure that the fibers of the textile are "lifted" and are not affected. This process is similar to the natural drying process on the (outside) air. As you can imagine, this is much less harsh (than, say, using a hot, squashing, iron) on the fibers of delicate fabrics. Using a handheld steamer is also super fast! Believe us, it really is a godsend to your busy life to still always look groomed, fresh and wrinkle-free in a very short time!
