why descale?
Descaling is important because over time, lime and mineral deposits, such as calcium and magnesium, build up in the steamer. This reduces steam power and can eventually damage your appliance. Regular descaling keeps your steamer efficient and extends its life.
how to descale?
To descale your garment steamer, start by removing the water tank, steam hose and rod. Next, fill the base with a mixture of descaling liquid or a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1). Let this soak for five minutes and gently tilt the steamer back and forth to loosen the limescale residue. Empty the steamer over a sink, bathtub or shower.
On the Professional steamer, you unscrew the drain spout, next to the power button, to drain the water. On the MIDI steamer, the drain is at the bottom of the unit (in the middle). Repeat the process and rinse the steamer several times until the water is clear and no lime particles are visible.
how often to descale?
Descale your steamer every 20 water tanks or about once every 3-6 months, depending on how often you use it and the hardness of the water in your area.
